![]() What follows is a lot of shenanigans, love triangles, drama, and plenty of sass. It is written by Min Ji-Eun and Won Young-Sil and directed by Kwon Hyuk-Chan and Lee Min-Woo. His plans don't completely pan out, however, when the grandfather witnesses Ha Won's no-nonsense attitude towards Hyun Min and decides to hire her as a live-in butler and drill sergeant of sorts at Sky House. ‘Cinderella with Four Knights’ is a South Korean television series based on a novel with the same name published in 2011. Hyun Min doesn't want to go, but ultimately ends up hiring Ha Won to be his date for 3 hours so he can upstage his grandfather. With their wildly different personalities - Ji Woon a tough guy, Hyun Min a playboy, and Seo Woo a musician - they all deeply dislike each other and prefer to be as far away from each other as possible.One day, their grandfather orders his 3 grandsons to attend his 5th wedding ceremony. Unattached from her father, step-mother, and step-sister, and poorly treated by them, Ha Won still manages to maintain her bright personality and strong set of morals, working various part-time jobs to pay for her upcoming university tuition fees and keeping her eyes firmly glued to her goals.Meanwhile, in another part of the city are three spoiled cousins, Ji Woon, Hyun Min, and Seo Woo, living together in a mansion called Sky House. The story’s emotional impact was surface level which matched the easy vibe of this series.Eun Ha Won is in her third year of high school with dreams of becoming a teacher. The two volume novel was categorized as young adult which was the way the series felt. Several early plot points were ignored then quickly dealt leaving the viewer feeling like the writer just ticked a box rather than fully exploring the potential. All the characters’ behavior skewed towards a more junior story. The prevailing wisdom about pre-produced dramas is that the writing and production quality improve given the leisurely filming schedule. ![]() This series was pre-produced which should have given the writers an edge. Some episodes dragged and some episodes were in balance. But they had issues filling each episode with sufficient forward progress in the plot. The two volume novel should have provided the series writers, Min Ji Eun and Won Young Sil, a blueprint. One review described the story as “straightforward, lightweight, simple, interesting” which leads me to believe that the spirit of the two volume novel was accurately portrayed in the series. I was curious about the strength of the two volume novel’s story. The series was based on two volume novel by Baek Myo. But once they did, they relationship bloosomed and their smiles lit up the screen.ġ. Cinderella and her Prince Charming took a while to admit they had more than friendship on their mind. I liked each of these characters individually and looked forward to each of them finding their own happiness.ģ. Cinderella gave the Knights a kick start to grow and bond together. The Knights lived in the same house but didn’t interact much, each in their own bubble. Cinderella was a positive heroine and the four Knights were good guys. This cotton candy show did not have a complicated or particularly well executed plot but it featured the likable core characters consistently.Ģ. Along the way Cinderella finds love with her Prince Charming and friendship with the other Knights.ġ. ![]() Also in the mix is Assistant Lee aka Lee Yoon Sung (Choi Min). Nutshell Summary: Cinderella and Four Knights is a 2016 Korean drama about a Cinderella like young woman, Eun Ha Won (Park So Dam), who is hired by a grandfather to encourage bonding between his disparate grandsons (aka the Four Knights) Kang Ji Woon (Jung Il Woo), Kang Hyun Min (Ahn Jae Hyeon), and Kang Seo Woo (Lee Jung Shin).
